U.S. dominionists and oligarchs are making so much money off transphobia
A couple days ago, Jaime Hoerricks published a long essay called “The Clearing: Why They’re Dismantling Education — and What Comes Next” on Substack, and I wrote a bit about it.
I’m returning now to consider Hoerricks’s observation that “two seemingly opposed factions — Christian dominionists and tech libertarians — [are] working in such uncanny synchrony.” They’re syncing up to destroy education in the United States, that is. They’re pooling their dynamite sticks to blow it up.
It reminds me of a question I’ve raised in a different context: why do Christian conservatives and secular liberals join forces to oppose trans people?
Hoerricks, to repeat, is discussing this in the context of an alliance to dismantle schools. She says:
